Jourdan Day, PA-C

I am currently working in Family Medicine at the Peru office location. Jourdan’s day as a Physician Assistant in family medicine involves seeing patients of all ages for various health concerns, from acute illnesses to chronic disease management. She conducts physical exams, diagnoses condition, prescribes treatments, and educates patients on health and wellness. Jourdan collaborates closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care and ensure optimal patient outcomes. In addition to patient care, she completes administrative tasks like documenting medical records and reviewing lab results, all while maintaining a focus on preventive care and patient education.

Before attending Physician Assistant school, Jourdan worked for four years as a Patient Care Technician in the ICU at IU Health in Bloomington, Indiana. In this role, she gained hands-on experience caring for critically ill patients, assisting with vital procedures, and monitoring patient conditions under high-pressure circumstances. She worked closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals, helping to manage complex cases and provide round-the-clock care. This experience laid a strong foundation for her medical career, sharpening her clinical skills, enhancing her ability to handle acute situations, and deepening her understanding of patient care at its most critical level.

Jourdan began her academic journey at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana, where she earned her undergraduate degree in Health Studies. During her time at IU, she developed a strong foundation in healthcare principles, honing her passion for patient care and deepening her understanding of the healthcare system. After completing her degree, she pursued her dream of becoming a Physician Assistant by enrolling at Lincoln Memorial University in Tennessee, where she earned her Master of Physician Assistant Studies. At LMU, Jourdan refined her clinical skills and knowledge through rigorous coursework and hands-on training, ultimately preparing her to provide compassionate and effective care in family medicine. Jourdan chose to work with Meridian Health to make a meaningful impact in an area that faces significant healthcare challenges. Coming from a small town in Indiana, she understands the importance of accessible, quality healthcare in underserved communities. Driven by her desire to give back, she joined Meridian Health to help provide comprehensive care to individuals in an area where medical resources are limited. Her background in a close-knit, rural community fueled her passion to ensure that those in need receive the care and attention they deserve.

During clinical rotations, Jourdan was exposed to a variety of medical specialties, each offering its own unique challenges and rewards. However, it was the diverse nature of family medicine that ultimately captured her interest. She realized that she enjoyed working with patients of all ages, from infants to seniors, and found fulfillment in managing a wide range of health conditions. The ability to build long-term relationships with patients and provide comprehensive care for individuals and families across their lifespan resonated deeply with her. This experience solidified her decision to pursue family medicine, where she could make a meaningful impact on the health and well-being of her community.

When visiting the office or after leaving, I strive to ensure that each patient feels both comfortable and well-informed about their healthcare plan. I believe that patient education is a crucial part of care, and I make it a priority to explain diagnoses, treatment options, and preventive measures in a way that is clear and easy to understand. I want my patients to feel empowered to ask questions, express concerns, and actively participate in their healthcare decisions. Creating an open, trusting environment where patients feel heard and supported is key to building long-lasting relationships and promoting better health outcomes.
